Artist Statement, August 2002

Painting records the action of the hand in the most direct manner. It is a permanent and intimate imprint of human energy today as it has been in the past.

My images are a combination of geometric and organic forms that continue to be connected to the tactile qualities of the painting process. The excitement is in the act of painting and discovering possibilities as the painting process is evolving in structure and color.

When I think of metaphorical meaning in my work I make connection with the energy systems that impact upon our lives. Directly or indirectly I am affected by the phenomena in the atmosphere with its wind action and lighting conditions in rural, urban and tropical settings.

Equally important are the complex electrical patterns that have created a global interaction and reinforced the excellerated change of most systems.
